The Choice Food Pantry has one main goal – improving client health while ultimately reducing chronic disease from poor food decisions, and New Bethany Ministries has always envisioned offering recipes to guests visiting the pantry allowing them to choose ingredients needed to cook entire meals. When paired with Brown & Brown Insurance for the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley’s 2021 Volunteer Challenge, we knew we had a huge opportunity to bring this dream to life.

From brainstorming to operations developments, Brown and Brown Insurance provided valuable input and tools to reach our goals. We were both determined to reduce food insecurity, and this project will put us one step closer to offering community members access to nutritional options.

Our partner quickly got to work, creating meal plans, recipe cards, and a distribution plan necessary to reach our project goals. As of May 7th, over 630 pounds of food, more than 30 recipes, and monetary donations were collected… with more to come!

“This project was a very intense undertaking, and Brown & Brown Insurance rose to the challenge of helping us start a new layer of services to our Choice Food Pantry program,” said Emily Parker, New Bethany’s Director of Development. “New Bethany was lucky to be paired with such a fantastic team, and we can’t wait to see what the finished project looks like.”
